February 2018

A bit of a nostalgic month. My brother's funeral was always going to bring back memories, and the bad weather kept me busily scanning some old colour negatives from 1997 to 2004. On the positive side, I had my best set of exhibition acceptances yet, with all four colour pdi's and one of four mono pdi's accepted in the 2018 Solihull Exhibition. Gerry Coles of Duston selected my print "Hope" as best in the Advanced Mono Section of our club's first print heat of 2018 as well. I visited Kettering Camera Club to see a fabulous presentation on "Iceland" by Liz and Barrie Hatten from Cambridgeshire. It made me realise all the images I missed when I was in Iceland last September! My 300mm lens returned from Nikon - with a £400 repair bill.. I tried it out at the Evo-Stik Division 1 South football match between Stamford AFC and Alvechurch and all seems well again (apart from the 0-0 scoreline). I cannot say the same for my printer, which continues to give a colour cast in light grey shadow areas, despite a new profile done for me by Fotospeed. The new printer is coming ever nearer. A great studio group meeting at Leicester Forest with two models, Andy and Emma. Photos from this can be seen in my galleries on this site. Modest success in Midphot 2018 (One mono print, three colour pdi's). St Ives Interprint was not a success for the club. We came about 23rd out of 28, not helped by a very low score for my mono print "Concentration". Hoping March is a bit more successful photographically
